## Source and freshness

BTC/USD observations come from Coinbase Exchange (market BTC-USD), not a single global Bitcoin price. Other currencies use indicative daily FX conversions.
Always use marketTimestamp (ISO 8601) to determine observation age. receivedAt is the service reception time. status describes live/stale data; an unavailable snapshot returns HTTP 503. Preserve the source, currency, timestamp and status when quoting a price.
The API preserves source as the string "coinbase"; sourceDetails names the exchange and market. Decimal prices remain strings for precision; change24h is a number. Do not cache observations indefinitely.
